Broom Care

To ensure that your broom remains in good condition, please follow these care suggestions.

  • Always hang broom in a dry place away from direct sunlight.

  • Use the hanging loop to hang your broom, resting the broom on its bristles will cause them to warp and eventually break.

  • If your broom gets wet, hang it and allow it to fully dry. A broom that is left wet WILL mold. Dyed broomcorn that gets saturated will also bleed color.

  • If you notice mold on your broom, make a spray of 50/50 water and white vinegar and spritz the face of the broom lightly, wipe with a paper towel. The dyed broomcorn will bleed if it gets saturated, so be mindful to NOT spray the end of the handle of Mergstyle brooms to avoid distorting the image. If your Mergstyle broom develops mold or mildew, PLEASE reach out via email and Morgan will advise you further.

  • If you notice any loose twine, please reach out immediately.

  • If you have any other issues, please reach out and we will do our best to help fix them.

Cutting Board Care

To ensure that your cutting board remains in good condition, please follow these care instructions.

  • Wash your cutting board by hand with soap and running warm water and scrub well. After washing the cutting board, dry immediately with a towel and let it air dry standing up or on a raised rack with air flow.

  • If your board has stains or smells, you can use vinegar or scrub it with half a lemon and table salt.

  • If your board starts to get dry, you can use food grade mineral oil, cutting board oil, or my personal favorite Holland Bowl Mill's Bees Oil- available on Etsy!

DO NOT:

  • Put the board in the dishwasher. The heat and water will warp and split your cutting board.

  • Soak or let the board sit in water. The wood will absorb water and potentially warp.

  • Use bleach. This will stain the wood and/or excessively dry the wood.

  • Put a wet board flat to dry. If the board dries faster on one side, it will cause the wood to warp.

  • Leave your board on a damp or wet towel. This can also cause warping and cracking.
